Russia says air defences downed 140 Ukrainian drones overnight

Russia’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 140 Ukrainian drones during an overnight period spanning late May 26 to the morning of May 27, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.

The ministry said the drones were shot down by on-duty air defence units between 20:00 Moscow time and 07:00 Moscow time.

“From 20:00 Moscow time on May 26, 2026, to 07:00 Moscow time on May 27, on-duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 140 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over the territories of the Belgorod, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kursk, Oryol, and Tula regions, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Crimea, and over the waters of the Azov Sea and the Black Sea,” the military department said.
