Russia says foreign national detained over alleged drone plot in Moscow
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said it detained a foreign national in the Murmansk Region who allegedly acted on behalf of Ukrainian intelligence services and was involved in planning a drone attack in Moscow.
According to the FSB, the suspect was detained in August while travelling toward the Russian-Norwegian border and attempting to cross the border illegally, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The security service said the individual had been involved in preparations to launch an FPV drone in Moscow for reconnaissance of government buildings, transport infrastructure and crowded public areas.
The suspect was detained for allegedly violating regulations governing entry into the border zone, the FSB’s Public Relations Centre said on August 21.
The FSB did not disclose the suspect’s nationality or provide independent evidence supporting its allegations.
