Russia says it downed 121 Ukrainian drones overnight
Russia’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 121 Ukrainian drones during an overnight operation, the Russian Ministry of Defence said on May 21.
In an official statement, the ministry said the drones were of a fixed-wing type and were neutralised by on-duty air defence units.
“Duty air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 121 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry stated.
According to the statement, the interceptions took place across a wide geographic area. The drones were downed over multiple Russian regions, including Samara, Kursk, Bryansk, Rostov, Belgorod, Voronezh, and Saratov.
The ministry added that aerial targets were also destroyed over the Republic of Kalmykia, Crimea, and the waters of the Caspian Sea.
