Russia says it downed 452 Ukrainian drones overnight
Russia’s air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 452 Ukrainian drones overnight, the Defence Ministry said on Tuesday, July 7, describing one of the largest such attacks since the start of the war.
“During the night, in the period from 20:00 Moscow time on July 6 to 08:00 Moscow time on July 7, 452 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed by on-duty air defence systems,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the drones were downed across a wide geographical area, including the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov and Tula regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Crimea.
Intercepts were also reported over the waters of the Azov Sea and the Black Sea.
