Russia says it maintains contacts with CIA over Iran situation
Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) is maintaining communication with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) regarding developments in Iran, SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin said on Wednesday, April 1, according to TASS.
Responding to a question, Naryshkin confirmed the ongoing контакts between the two intelligence agencies. “Yes, we maintain contact with the Central Intelligence Agency, if you mean the Foreign Intelligence Service,” he said.
He also stated that Russia is engaged in broader diplomatic consultations aimed at addressing the escalating crisis in the Middle East. According to Naryshkin, these discussions involve multiple countries and senior leadership figures.
“The Russian side is conducting consultations with various countries, with the leadership of a number of states, regarding the settlement of the severe crisis in the Middle East,” he said.
