Russia says UK will have to answer for complicity in Kyiv’s crimes
Reports that Kyiv has used British-made drones to carry out strikes deep inside Russia confirm that London is pursuing a policy of escalating the conflict, the Russian Embassy has stated, noting that Britain will have to answer for complicity in Kyiv’s crimes.
Earlier, The Sunday Times claimed British-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been used by Ukraine to carry out strikes deep inside Russian territory for the first time.
Citing sources in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it said the drones, including the Nyan UAV manufactured by Wiltshire-based Callen-Lenz, were used in strikes on oil refineries in Volgograd and Yaroslavl.
Retired Air Marshal Greg Bagwell confirmed that the use of British drones against Russia could give Moscow grounds to regard factories in the United Kingdom producing such systems as “legitimate targets.”
The newspaper’s sources described the prospect of a “direct military confrontation” between Russia and NATO as unlikely.
