Russia shoots down 84 Ukrainian drones overnight, defence ministry says
Russian air defence forces have intercepted and destroyed 84 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the night, according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The ministry said the drone attacks occurred between 11:00 p.m. (12:00 GMT+4) and 7:00 a.m. Moscow time (8:00 GMT+4), targeting several regions across western Russia. The vast majority of the UAVs were described as “aircraft-type” drones, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the ministry, 78 of the drones were intercepted over Russian territory during the eight-hour period. The breakdown by region included 24 drones over the Bryansk region, 21 over Belgorod, 9 over Voronezh, 9 over Smolensk, 7 over Kaluga, 4 over the Moscow region, 3 over Oryol, and 1 over Kursk.
In total, the ministry stated that 84 Ukrainian drones were neutralised overnight by air defence units on duty.
