Russia shoots down over 330 Ukraine drones, 7 precision bombs in 24 hours
Russian air defence systems shot down seven Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) precision-guided bombs and 335 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the past 24 hours.
“Air defence systems have intercepted seven US-made JDAM precision-guided bombs and 335 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles,” the statement says, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The Russian Ministry of Defense further claims that, since the start of the operation, its forces have destroyed 663 Ukrainian aircraft, 283 helicopters, 65,472 unmanned aerial vehicles, 612 surface-to-air missile systems, 24,038 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,572 multiple launch rocket systems, 26,599 field artillery pieces and mortars, and 37,271 units of special military automotive equipment, though these figures remain unverified independently due to restricted battlefield access.
Recent peace talks in Istanbul, held on May 16 and June 2, have yielded limited progress, with both sides agreeing to exchange prisoners of war and the bodies of fallen soldiers but failing to secure a ceasefire. Russia’s demands, including Ukraine ceding occupied territories and abandoning NATO aspirations, were rejected by Kyiv as tantamount to surrender, while Ukraine insists on an unconditional 30-day ceasefire, highlighting the deep divide in negotiations.
The conflict continues to draw global attention, with NATO countries providing military aid to Ukraine while Russia sustains its defensive and offensive operations.
