Russia shoots down over 70 Ukrainian drones across seven regions
Russian air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 78 Ukrainian drones overnight across seven regions, with nearly half of them targeting the Voronezh region.
Thus, 32 drones were shot down over Voronezh, 19 over Saratov, and 17 over Kursk, Caliber.Az reports per Russian Ministry of Defence.
Six drones were intercepted over Belgorod, while two were downed over Lipetsk. One drone was reported in each of the Rostov and Tambov regions.
The latest drone attacks come amid escalating cross-border strikes between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides ramping up aerial assaults.
Moscow has repeatedly accused Kyiv of targeting infrastructure in Russian regions, while Ukraine has not officially commented on the incident.
Note that, as of March 27, Russian forces have carried out a large-scale drone attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, injuring nine people and causing significant damage, according to emergency services and Ukrainian officials.
In a separate incident, drones fired by Russian forces sparked fires in the central city of Dnipro, although no casualties have been reported, stated regional governor Serhiy Lysak. Additionally, the mayor of Mykolaiv, a southern port city, confirmed early morning power outages on March 26, following a drone assault.
Ukraine's military reported that its air defence units successfully downed 56 out of 117 drones launched by Russia.
