Russia, Ukraine complete prisoner swap under 200-for-200 formula
On March 5, Russia and Ukraine conducted a prisoner exchange under a 200-for-200 formula, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced.
The ministry stated that two hundred Russian servicemen had been returned and that, in exchange, 200 Ukrainian military personnel had been handed over, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The Russian Ministry of Defence added that the returned servicemen are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving necessary psychological and medical care.
All will be transported to Russia for treatment and rehabilitation in the Ministry of Defence medical facilities.
The United Arab Emirates and the United States played a mediating role in securing the return of the Russian servicemen from Ukrainian captivity, according to the ministry.
Earlier in February, Russia and Ukraine carried out another prisoner exchange. At that time, 157 Russian military personnel were returned from territory controlled by Kyiv in exchange for 157 Ukrainian servicemen, along with three Russian civilians from the Kursk region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
