Russia, Ukraine reveal details of overnight attacks in latest battlefield update
Russian and Ukrainian authorities have reported overnight drone attacks as both sides exchanged claims over air strikes.
Russia’s Defence Ministry announced the interception and destruction of 73 Ukrainian drones by its forces between 20:00 Moscow time on July 8 (21:00 Baku time) and 7:00 Moscow time on July 9 (08:00 Baku time).
According to the ministry, the drones were downed over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Novgorod, Tver, Oryol, Leningrad, and Rostov regions, as well as the Moscow region, Krasnodar region, and the Sea of Azov.
Meanwhile, Ukraine said Russia launched an overnight attack on July 9 using two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 94 strike drones.
“According to preliminary data, air defence forces shot down or suppressed 72 drones of various types in the north, south, and east of the country. Hits by two ballistic missiles and 19 strike drones were recorded at 13 locations, as well as falling debris from downed targets at four locations.
The attack is ongoing, with several UAVs still in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety instructions,” the Ukrainian Air Force stated.
