Russia warns it cannot ignore Armenia’s EU aspirations

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk said Moscow cannot disregard statements by Armenia regarding its intention to pursue closer ties with the European Union.

Speaking on the issue, Overchuk said Russia views recent developments in the EU with concern, arguing that the bloc is increasingly taking on a military and political role hostile to Moscow, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.

“Of course, we cannot ignore this,” Overchuk said. “Especially in the current situation, when the European Union is effectively transforming from an economic integration bloc into a military-political alliance that makes no secret of its hostility toward our country. We cannot ignore this.”
