Russia warns NATO, US of decisive response to new missile threats
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that NATO and the US will face a decisive response if they create new missile threats to Russia.
Lavrov made this statement in an interview with RIA Novosti, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
"If new missile threats are created, our adversaries will face a decisive response in the form of military-technical countermeasures," he emphasised, stressing that Moscow is prepared for any development of the situation.
He also noted that hypothetical steps aimed at creating acceptable conditions for an equal dialogue would be considered.
In late November, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a special address following the strikes by US ATACMS missiles and UK’s Storm Shadow missiles on targets in Russian territory.
The president stated that in response to the actions of Western countries, Russia had targeted the Yuzhmash machine-building plant in Dnipro (formerly Dnepropetrovsk) with Oreshnik latest medium-range missile system.
