Russian air defence systems down eight HIMARS projectiles
Russian air defence forces (ADF) intercepted eight HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) projectiles, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Additionally, the Russian Armed Forces shot down a French-made Hammer guided aerial bomb manufactured in France and 86 fixed-wing drones, the statement said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, the following have been destroyed: 652 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 40,878 unmanned aerial vehicles, 590 anti-aircraft missile systems, 20,684 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,510 multiple launch rocket systems, 20,809 field artillery pieces and mortars, and 30,501 units of special military vehicles, the ministry added.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that air defence units destroyed two Ukrainian drones over the Republic of Tatarstan early in the morning of January 20.
The ministry clarified that the drones were intercepted in the region between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. Moscow time.
Later, a drone fragment was discovered near a residential building in Kazan. Witnesses reported that the drone fragment first struck the roof of a residential building on Mozhayskogo Street and then fell near the building's entrance.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that air defence systems shot down the drone over Tatarstan.
