Russian air defences down 29 drones approaching Moscow, says mayor
Russian air defence forces have shot down 29 Ukrainian drones on their approach to Moscow since the start of the day, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
Sobyanin reported that three drones heading toward the Russian capital were intercepted in the latest wave of attacks.
The mayor first announced the downing of drones at around 6 a.m., adding that emergency crews were working at areas affected by falling debris.
Since 10:00 a.m., Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport and Domodedovo International Airport airports have been operating under temporary restrictions, with arriving and departing flights subject to coordination with the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, officials said that a total of 349 fixed-wing drones were destroyed across the country overnight.
