Russian airlines Sochi-Yerevan flight unable to depart after engine failures
A scheduled "Rossiya" Airlines flight from Sochi to Yerevan was unable to depart on August 29 after both the original and backup aircraft experienced technical issues involving engine malfunctions.
According to reports from the Telegram channel SHOT, the flight was initially set to depart at 06:30 AM local time (07:30 AM Baku time). However, a fault in the power unit of the first aircraft forced the airline to suspend preparations for takeoff, Caliber.Az reports.
Rossiya Airlines then deployed a second aircraft as a replacement, but that plane also suffered an engine failure before departure could be attempted.
Passengers, who had already boarded the aircraft, were subsequently returned to the terminal while the airline assessed the situation.
Rossiya Airlines is a subsidiary of Aeroflot and operates domestic and international flights.
