Russian ambassador claims UK fueling anti-Russia sentiment
Relations between Russia and the United Kingdom have hit a prolonged low, according to Ambassador Andrey Kelin in London, who described it as a deliberate campaign by the British government.
Kelin criticised the UK’s Labour-led government for pursuing a “conspicuously anti-Russian policy,” including the imposition of sanctions on Russian citizens and companies, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Kelin also accused London of spreading numerous “scare stories” about Russia. He claimed that British authorities were creating and sustaining artificial tensions designed to inflame anti-Russian sentiment among the public.
Relations between Russia and the United Kingdom have been strained since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The UK has provided significant military and financial support to Kyiv, including training for Ukrainian troops and sanctions targeting Russian banks, companies, and individuals.
Moscow has criticised these measures as politically motivated and hostile, accusing London of spreading anti-Russian sentiment and escalating tensions through diplomatic expulsions and disinformation claims.
The conflict has left bilateral relations at a low point, with limited diplomatic engagement and mutual mistrust.
