Russian Army may receive new 2S25M self-propelled gun
The Russian Armed Forces may receive the upgraded 2S25M self-propelled anti-tank gun in 2024.
Serial production of the vehicles is being prepared, TASS reports, citing the “Vysokotochnye Kompleksy” Holding (owned by Rostec).
"The design documents are currently being corrected and prepared for presentation to an interdepartmental commission. At the same time, preparations are being made to start serial production of the vehicles. If the Russian Ministry of Defence takes appropriate decisions, deliveries of the vehicles to the armed forces could start in 2024," the company said.
The 2S25M is equipped with the 125mm 2A75-1 cannon and corresponds in firepower to the T-90MS tank. The gun is equipped with armour-piercing sub-calibre, shaped charge and high-explosive projectiles, guided missiles, and remotely detonated fragmentation ammunition. The range of the vehicle is over 5 km. The vehicle with a crew of three can reach speeds of up to 70km/h on land and up to 10km/h in water. In the first half of 2022, the SPTP underwent state trials.
