Russian, Chinese navies complete joint Pacific patrol covering over 6,000 nautical miles

25 August 2025 10:19

The Russian Navy and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) have successfully concluded a joint naval patrol in the central Pacific Ocean, the Russian Pacific Fleet’s press service said.

According to the statement, the joint patrol saw both navies engage in a variety of coordinated tasks, including anti-submarine operations supported by deck-based aircraft, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media

"A detachment of ships from the Russian Navy and the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy has completed joint patrol tasks in the Asia-Pacific region. In the central Pacific Ocean, the ships carried out anti-submarine tasks with deck-based aircraft flights. After reaching the final point of the planned route, the ships of the two countries continued on their own courses. The parties thanked each other for their successful cooperation in completing all the joint patrol tasks," the press service stated.

The joint task force, which covered over 6,000 nautical miles, included Russia’s Admiral Tributs large anti-submarine ship, China’s Shaoxing destroyer, and the Qiandaohu supply ship. The vessels departed from Vladivostok on August 7 following their participation in the Russia-China 2025 Maritime Interaction naval drill.

During the patrol, the ships made a stop in Kamchatka to resupply before proceeding further into the Pacific Ocean to carry out their mission.

This year’s operation marked the fifth joint Russian-Chinese naval patrol since the initiative began in 2021.
