Russian citizen gets 14 years for financing Ukraine war effort
22 April 2026 09:59
A Russian court has upheld a 14-year prison sentence for a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur convicted of treason for allegedly helping finance arms purchases for Ukraine’s military.
The Fifth Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Novosibirsk left the original verdict unchanged, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Investigators and the court found that the man opposed the country’s political course and objected to the decision to wage war against Ukraine.
While living in the Khabarovsk Krai, he transferred money to an organisation that procured weapons, military equipment, and medical supplies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
