Russian court sentences former defence deputy for millions in bribes

The Tverskoy Court in Moscow has sentenced Oleg Vasenin, former deputy head of the property department for special projects of the Russian Ministry of Defence, to six years in prison for accepting bribes totalling 19 million rubles ($242,550).
He will serve his sentence in a strict-regime colony and is barred from holding government positions for five years following his release, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The court found that Vasenin received illegal payments while executing a contract for the sale of secondary raw materials. Due to his negligence between 2021 and 2022, the state budget lost 80 million rubles ($1,022,866). Vasenin fully admitted his guilt.
