Russian Defence Ministry: "Oreshnik" strike hit Lviv aircraft repair plant
Russia’s Defence Ministry has released new details about targets it says were hit during Oreshnik hypersonic missile strikes on Ukraine on January 9, naming specific military-industrial facilities and infrastructure sites.
In a statement, the ministry said the Russian armed forces used the Oreshnik strike system to hit the Lviv State Aircraft Repair Plant. According to the statement, the facility services several types of aircraft, including F-16 and MiG-29 fighter jets, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The ministry said the strike also hit production workshops, warehouses storing finished drones, and infrastructure at the factory’s airfield.
In addition, during what it described as a large-scale strike using Iskander mobile missile systems and Calibre sea-launched cruise missiles, Russia said it hit production facilities of two enterprises in Kyiv involved in assembling strike unmanned aerial vehicles.
The statement also said that energy infrastructure facilities supporting Ukraine’s defence industry were targeted.
