Russian Deputy FM denounces US efforts to sow discord between Russia and Iran
The US is attempting to drive a wedge between Moscow and Tehran by alleging that Iran is supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, but their efforts will not succeed.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov made this statement to reporters during the BRICS Media Summit, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“America is trying to create discord between our countries and pursue its own interests,” Ryabkov said. “Such attempts will fail. Our cooperation is longstanding and adheres to international legal obligations without negatively impacting anyone’s security or regional stability.”
Ryabkov dismissed U.S. concerns over Russia-Iran cooperation, emphasizing that the U.S. should not interfere, “There is indeed military-technical cooperation, but it is none of the United States' business. They should refrain from meddling in these matters and focus on addressing their own domestic issues, which are plentiful,” Ryabkov stated.
The allegations of Iranian missile transfers emerged in September, with Western media claiming that Tehran had dispatched ballistic missiles to Russia.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry has rejected these claims as "ugly propaganda" intended to distract from Western arms supplies to Israel. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani addressed the issue on September 10, condemning the reports as an effort to "obscure the significant illegal arms support provided by the US and certain Western countries for the genocide in Gaza."
