Russian embassy advises citizens to avoid travelling to Venezuela

The Russian Embassy in Caracas has issued an official warning advising Russian citizens against travelling to Venezuela, according to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department.

In a statement, the department cited what it described as “armed aggression of the United States against Venezuela” and warned of the possibility of further attacks. Russian nationals were strongly urged to refrain from travelling to the country unless absolutely necessary, Caliber.Az reports. 

The United States carried out airstrikes on Venezuela on January 3, in a raid, resulting in capture of Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, for trial in New York on narco-terrorism charges.
