Russian envoy: Moscow, Washington remain open to dialogue at UN

20 July 2026 11:19

Boris Titov, the Russian president’s special representative for cooperation with international organisations on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, said he held a meeting with U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mike Waltz as part of discussions on international cooperation.

Titov said the meeting was also attended by U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dan Negrea, Russian media reports.

"We met with [U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Mike] Waltz, and [U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dan] Negrea was there as well," Titov said.

According to the Russian official, the talks took place in a constructive and comfortable atmosphere. He said the sides held a substantive discussion that included cross-border challenges related to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

"There are problems that even a country as large and powerful as the United States cannot solve on its own, and they confirmed that they are interested in establishing coordination and are open to dialogue with Russia," Titov said.

Earlier, Waltz said the United States was prepared to impose additional sanctions on Russia and continue providing military support to Kyiv.
