Russian envoy says ties with Armenia need reassessment
Relations between Armenia and Russia must be re-evaluated and adjusted to reflect evolving regional and global dynamics, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin said.
Speaking at a reception marking Russia Day, Kopyrkin said Moscow remains ready to pursue constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with Yerevan through existing bilateral mechanisms, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“The relations between Armenia and Russia have reached a stage where they need to be re-evaluated and adapted to changing global and regional conditions,” he said.
At the same time, the ambassador stressed that Russia does not question Armenia’s sovereign right to conduct an independent foreign policy.
“We expect that Yerevan’s cooperation with other partners will not harm our bilateral relations and will not be directed against Russia,” Kopyrkin added.
