Russian envoy to discuss Azerbaijan-Armenia peace treaty in Baku
The Russian Foreign Ministry's special representative for the promotion of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalisation, Igor Khovayev, who is visiting Baku, will discuss the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova made the remarks at a briefing in Moscow on November 24, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian media.
She recalled that Khovayev was in Yerevan on November 14, where he held a series of consultations with Armenia's political leadership.
"Now he is in Baku to meet with the Azerbaijani side. During these contacts, the issues of the peace treaty are also discussed," Zakharova said.
As for the statements made in Yerevan and Baku regarding the peace treaty, she noted that the subject of the peace treaty, as well as other issues of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalisation, have a very difficult, sensitive nature.
"We do not consider it appropriate to comment on the positions of the parties before reaching specific agreements," the Russian diplomat said.
