Russian FM: Turning US tensions into hot conflict would be crime
Russia considers it a crime to allow differences with the United States to escalate into a direct confrontation, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated.
In an interview with Russia 1 journalist Pavel Zarubin, a fragment of which was shared on Telegram, Lavrov emphasised that Russia never interferes in US-European relations, Caliber.Az reports.
“People are treated based on how they have conducted themselves,” he added.
Lavrov further criticised Europe’s role in transatlantic relations, asserting that European countries have consistently tried to drive a wedge between Moscow and Washington.
FM argued that while Europe perceives US policies under President Donald Trump as favouring Russia at the expense of European interests, it is difficult to blame Russia for these tensions.
“It is Europe that has tried and continues to try to insert wedges between Russia and the United States,” Lavrov said, highlighting that nations like Russia, China, the UAE, and India defend their own interests and are treated accordingly.
