Russian foreign agent detained in Armenia
Former head of the Pskov movement “Golos,” Vladimir Zhilinsky, has been detained in Armenia, his lawyer Mikhail Benyash said on Telegram.
Zhilinsky has been placed in a temporary detention facility in the town of Noyemberyan. Benyash told The Insider that the reasons for the detention are currently unknown, Benyash wrote, Caliber.Az reports.
Zhilinsky arrived in Armenia from Georgia, reportedly for a visa run, and was detained by local authorities. Before his trip, he reportedly warned acquaintances “just in case.” An Armenian court is expected to review his pretrial detention measures in the near future.
In Russia, a criminal case has been opened against Zhilinsky under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code, accusing him of justifying terrorism in posts on the Telegram channel “Pskovskaya Guberniya.”
