Russian intel chief urges Armenia to “act wisely” amid Westward shift
On June 15, 2026, Sergey Naryshkin, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), issued another warning to Armenia, stating that the country’s leadership would make a mistake if it were to rely solely on Western support.
Speaking to TASS, Naryshkin said such a course would lead to internal complications within Armenia and negatively affect its economic development.
“If the Armenian leadership relies exclusively on some kind of help or support from the West, then, of course, it will make a mistake, and in that case the situation inside the country will become more complicated. Of course, additional barriers and difficulties will arise in the country’s economic development. But I still hope that the leadership of Armenia will act wisely,” he said.
