Russian journalists added to government’s “terrorist, extremist” list
Three Russian journalists, including Tikhon Dzyadko, editor-in-chief of the independent Dozhd TV channel, have been officially designated as “terrorists and extremists” by Russian authorities.
The names of Dzyadko, TV presenter Ekaterina Kotrikadze, and journalist Valeria Ratnikova were added to the federal list maintained by Rosfinmonitoring, Russia’s financial intelligence agency, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The designation can lead to frozen bank accounts and increased legal scrutiny under Russian law.
The move follows earlier reports that Dzyadko had been placed on an international wanted list. He is accused by Russian authorities of violating regulations tied to the country’s controversial "foreign agents" law.
Dozhd TV, a well-known independent outlet critical of the Kremlin, has faced growing pressure since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The channel was forced to suspend operations inside Russia and now broadcasts from abroad.
