Russian leader comments on short exchange with Azerbaijani president in Beijing Putin on state of bilateral relations / VIDEO
Russian President Vladimir Putin shared a glimpse into his short conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during an event in Beijing marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II.
He commented on his encounter with Aliyev where they exchanged "a few words" during a press conference following his visit to China, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
“We greeted each other today [September 3] with President Aliyev. I greeted both him and his spouse [Mehriban Aliyeva]. We exchanged a few words," the Russian leader said.
Commenting on the current state of relations between Moscow and Baku, Putin noted that “there are always certain matters that come up in relations arising from the current situation or some political circumstances, and there are problems.”
However, he added, that he “believe[s] that the fundamental relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, and the mutual interest in developing them, will, after all, place everything ultimately in its proper place.”
