Russian leader engages in talks with Armenian PM in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the Kremlin to discuss various pressing issues, with a primary focus on the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan.
Putin noted that this marked their first in-person conversation, emphasizing the need to address a broad spectrum of economic topics, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
He highlighted that trade between Russia and Armenia could potentially reach a record $14-16 billion by the end of the year, following a significant increase in the first half of the year, where trade turnover surged 2.5 times to exceed $8.3 billion.
During the meeting, Pashinyan acknowledged the active political dialogue between Yerevan and Moscow over recent months. He referenced productive discussions held with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin concerning their cooperation and the Armenian-Russian agenda, stating that this meeting provided an opportunity to summarize those conversations.
Pashinyan arrived in Moscow a day earlier in anticipation of the informal summit of CIS leaders. In addition to their discussions, Putin extended an invitation to Pashinyan to attend the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, scheduled from October 22 to 24.
He expressed hope that the summit would foster valuable connections and offered to arrange a bilateral meeting during the event, which is expected to host 33 international delegations, including leaders from at least 26 countries.
