Russian media's harsh response to Armenia threatening with blockade of Gyumri military base
The Russian media has reacted sharply to statements made by Armenian nationalists about their intention to block the Russian military base stationed inside Armenia in the city of Gyumri.
Caliber.Az recalls, that a member of the political movement “National Democratic Pole” (NDP) Vahe Gasparyan threatened that “if the corridor is not opened in the next few days, we will appeal to our people to block the military base in Gyumri," as reported by Armenian media outlets. "For this, NDP will hold discussions with those political circles of Armenia, whose assessments on the basis of the blockade of Karabakh by Russians coincide with ours”, he said on December 28 during a press conference.
A Russian Telegram channel (“Kremlin laundress”), which enjoys a following of over 252,000 subscribers, published its response to the Armenian radical nationalists suggestion.
“Armenians continue to escalate. Threats against Russian peacekeepers were accompanied by the intentions of some ‘especially bright’ individuals to block the 102nd military base in Gyumri. Playing with fire has taken a very dangerous turn. This indicates that the instinct of self-preservation of somebody in Yerevan has completely deteriorated.
The so-called “National Democratic Pole” decided to surround the Russian military base. One of the leaders of the movement, In particular, the odious Vahe Gasparyan, made a statement to that effect. It should be remembered that the NDP represents the unification of Armenian radicals with a clearly pro-Western orientation. They held rallies calling for Armenia to leave the CSTO and build a new security system. The new system is likely to be built under the patronage of Washington.
It is only fitting to mention here that the incumbent Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan is a pupil of the first Armenian President, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who was also fully oriented toward the West. In 1998, he was the Coordinator of the election campaign for another Westerner, Ashot Bleyan, who visited Baku at the height of the Karabakh conflict. Why the need to mention all this and what do we get in the end?
Pashinyan, with such teachers, is also an absolutely pro-Western puppet. He simply appeals without conscience to alliances with Russia in a way that is advantageous for himself and is able to better to mimic in case. Otherwise, ‘Agent Nikol’ is wholly and fully committed to officially join the ranks of US vassals.
However, when the Prime Minister of Armenia gives the insane radicals a silent carte blanche on threats to the Russian military, then this is even too much for him. For Yerevan, the 102nd military base is the guarantor of the very existence of the Armenian state. The withdrawal of Russian armed forces from this territory will benefit Washington, as it will weaken Moscow’s position in the region. It would be suicide for the Armenians. What could Washington have promised them, if the leadership of the said Transcaucasian republic chose to finally sell themselves to it with giblets and agreed on a catastrophic provocation?”, the Telegram post read.
