Russian MFA: Armenia failed to rebuke Zelenskyy’s threat

Moscow has not forgotten the incident when Armenia did not rebuke Zelenskyy over threats to the Victory Day Parade in Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said.

She noted that Armenian politicians and officials at the time failed to show the resolve needed to stop such statements, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“A more graphic testament to the moral and spiritual degradation caused by rapprochement with today’s faceless, morally impoverished Europe and fraternisation with the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv would be hard to find. This is especially true in Armenia, where respect for and reverence toward elders have seemingly always been a cornerstone of Caucasian national identity.

We cannot view this report in isolation from a series of events and steps taken by Yerevan that look like a blatant mockery of our shared history and memory. No one has forgotten that the ‘sovereign’ politicians and officials of the republic did not have the courage to rebuke Zelensky, who threatened strikes on the Victory Day Parade in Red Square while in the Armenian capital.

We also remember very well the public attempts by the newly appointed head of one of the Armenian Defense Ministry’s educational institutions to whitewash Nazis, as well as the detention under completely contrived pretexts of the chairman of the republic’s veterans’ union during the election period. Now, Armenian justice, which is adopting ‘democratic’ European standards, has turned its attention to R.S. Abgaryan,” she added.
