Russian MiG-29 jet prevents border violation - Defense Ministry

A Russian MiG-29 fighter jet immediately took off when a Norwegian aircraft was approaching the Russian border over the Barents Sea.

“Russian airspace control devices over the Barents Sea have detected an air target approaching the state border of the Russian Federation. A MiG-29 fighter jet belonging to the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet immediately flew to prevent the border violation. Noticing the Russian fighter jet, the foreign aircraft turned around in the opposite direction. The crew of the MiG-29 recognised the air target as a P-8A Poseidon base patrol aircraft of the Norwegian Air Force. Violation of the Russian state border was prevented,” Gazeta.ru reports, citing the Russian National Defence Control Centre.
