Russian passenger plane issues distress signal over Caspian Sea

A Russian Embraer 190 passenger aircraft issued a distress signal while flying over the Caspian Sea during a scheduled flight from Izhevsk to Makhachkala, aviation services reported.

The aircraft, which triggered the alarm in the early hours of July 28, was tracked by the Flightradar24 service as it descended over the Buzachi Peninsula in Kazakhstan and diverted toward the city of Aktau, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media. 

However, the plane later resumed course and landed safely in Makhachkala at 00:45 Moscow time, according to aviation officials quoted.

No information has been released yet about the nature of the emergency.
