Widespread Aeroflot cancellations leave hundreds stranded across Russia UPDATED
More than 40 flights operated by Russian national carrier Aeroflot have been cancelled across the country, causing widespread travel disruptions.
Departures from Moscow to cities such as Astrakhan, Yekaterinburg, Yerevan, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Makhachkala, Minsk, Murmansk, Samara, Sochi, and St. Petersburg have been suspended. The airline has not issued a statement explaining the cause of the cancellations, and it remains unclear whether the disruption is linked to a cyberattack or other technical issue, Caliber.Az reports.
In Siberia, more than 1,000 passengers are reportedly stranded at regional airports, including in Gorno-Altaisk, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk, and Tomsk, amid numerous flight delays.

Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot has warned passengers of potential flight delays and cancellations following a technical failure in its information systems.
In a statement published on its official Telegram channel, the airline said the malfunction may lead to service disruptions and forced adjustments to its flight schedule, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“A malfunction has occurred in the airline’s information systems. Service disruptions are possible. As a result, forced adjustments to the current flight schedule are expected, including delays and cancellations,” the statement read.
Aeroflot said a team of specialists is currently working to restore normal operations and minimise disruptions to scheduled flights.
