Russian military plane An-26 crashes over Crimea, leaving 29 dead

A Russian An-26 military transport aircraft crashed during a flight over Crimea, killing six crew members and 23 passengers, TASS reports, citing the Russian Defence Ministry.

“A search and rescue team has located the crash site of the An-26 aircraft. According to reports from the scene, six crew members and 23 passengers on board have died,” the ministry said in a statement.

“There was no external impact on the aircraft. The preliminary cause of the crash is a technical malfunction,” the statement added. A commission from the Russian Defence Ministry is working at the crash site.
