Russian nighttime strikes on Kyiv leave multiple dead, including infant
On the night of September 6 to 7, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv, according to the city's Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
“In the Pechersk district, as a result of a likely downing of a UAV, a fire broke out in a government building. Firefighters are working on site,” the statement published at 06:57 read, Caliber.Az reports.
Klitschko also added that warehouse facilities were once again burning in the Sviatoshyn district, where emergency services are also at work.
According to the outlet, Russia actively launched drones at Kyiv throughout the night. Several residential apartment buildings, cars, and warehouses were damaged in the strikes, and multiple fires broke out.
The attacks also left more than a dozen people dead and injured. Among the victims was a one-year-old child.
Closer to morning, Russian forces targeted the capital with cruise missiles, with powerful explosions heard across the city during the assault.
