Russian official: US diplomatic tools limited to sanctions, threats
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has said that the US exhausted its foreign policy tools, relying solely on sanctions and threats.
"I urge everyone not to overestimate the significance of the US actions," he added, commenting on the US plans to tighten sanctions, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Ryabkov added that this is part of a broader strategy of "political and psychological pressure" on both the Russian business community and the international community. Earlier, Ryabkov stated that the Russian government is considering reducing diplomatic relations with Western countries in response to sanctions.
Previously, US Deputy National Security Advisor Daleep Singh said at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace that the US plans to intensify sanctions against Russian oil. He emphasised that Washington aims to "shorten the revenue stream" for Moscow from oil sales by limiting the volume of oil Russia is allowed to supply to the market.
Additionally, Russian vessels that have been sanctioned are now prohibited from docking in Danish ports.
