Russian officials ordered to delete messages following Telegram CEO's detention in France
Russian officials have been instructed to delete official correspondence in the messenger amid the detention of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France.
Some officials interviewed by the publication said that they had not received such instructions. However, they are waiting for instructions from their superiors on Monday-Tuesday, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
Earlier, Russia Today (RT) chief Margarita Simonyan advised those who used the Telegram messenger for sensitive correspondence to delete them right now. Simonyan believes that Durov was detained in France to give up the keys to the chat rooms in the messenger. The businessman will give them up, the RT chief believes.
Durov was detained at the Paris airport on the evening of August 24 on charges of complicity in illegal activities carried out through his messenger. Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council, suggested that Durov is unpredictable and dangerous for Western countries because he is Russian.
