28 January 2026 13:13

Russian forces launched a series of drone strikes overnight targeting Ukraine’s Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, resulting in casualties and extensive damage, the State Emergency Service (SES) reported.

In Odesa region, the Svyato-Uspensky Monastery sustained significant damage, with a fire breaking out on the premises.

Additional damage was reported to warehouses, administrative buildings, and vehicles. Rescue operations were complicated by repeated air raid alerts, though all fires have now been extinguished. Preliminary reports indicate that three people were injured. A total of 106 emergency responders and 30 units of equipment were deployed to manage the aftermath of the strikes.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba confirmed that the Odesa port was also targeted, with damage reported to logistics infrastructure, warehouses, a locomotive, and production facilities. Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the destruction and are monitoring for any further threats.

Meanwhile, in Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian attacks killed one person and injured seven others. In Synelnykove district, a man was killed and five others injured, with a vehicle also damaged. In Kryvyi Rih, two people sustained injuries, a fire broke out, and infrastructure and vehicles were damaged.

In Pavlohrad district, a farm was engulfed in flames, damaging buildings and agricultural machinery, though no casualties were reported. All fires in the region have been contained and extinguished.
