Russian premier says Kazakhstan can become "crossroads of Eurasia"
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has emphasized the importance of developing the North-South corridor, stating that the successful implementation of transport projects could turn Kazakhstan into the "crossroads of Eurasia."
"Through the territories of Kazakhstan and Russia pass key transit routes of Eurasia. We pay great attention to the development of the North-South international corridor. We are convinced that in the future it will become a global transport artery for the benefit of all Eurasian countries," he said during talks with his Kazakh counterpart Olzhas Bektenov, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
He noted that Kazakhstan will become the crossroads of Eurasia.
According to Kazakh media, Mishustin also mentioned that trade turnover between the two countries in 2024 exceeded 2.6 trillion roubles ($23 billion).
"In Kazakhstan, strategic projects in industry, energy, and transport-logistics infrastructure are being successfully implemented," he said.
For his part, the Kazakh Prime Minister highlighted that expanding the range of goods supplied is crucial to achieving the leaders' agreement to increase trade turnover to $30 billion.
Following the talks, the parties agreed to strengthen strategic partnership and continue working together on all fronts.
