Russian president authorizes visa-free entry for Chinese nationals
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree granting citizens of China visa-free entry into Russia for stays of up to 30 days, provided their visits are for tourism or business.
The measure is outlined in an official presidential decree, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The document states: “Until September 14, 2026, and on the basis of reciprocity, citizens of the People’s Republic of China are permitted to enter and remain in the Russian Federation for no longer than 30 days for guest or business visits, as tourists, or to take part in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, and sports events. They may also transit through or depart from the Russian Federation without obtaining a visa, provided they hold a standard passport of a citizen of the People’s Republic of China.”
However, this exemption does not apply to Chinese nationals entering Russia for employment, academic pursuits, long-term residence, or for participation in international road transport as drivers, crew members, freight forwarders, or interpreters accompanying such vehicles.
China had earlier introduced an equivalent visa-free arrangement for Russian citizens, also valid through September 14, 2026.
