Russian president praises Jewish community in Passover message

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the Jewish community in Russia on the occasion of Passover, highlighting its cultural and social contributions.

The message of the Russian head of state was published on the Kremlin's website.

“Congratulations on the holiday of Passover.

This especially revered holiday by Jews recalls the most important events in the ancient history of the Jewish people, their aspiration for freedom, and symbolises the triumph of love, goodness, and justice.

It is encouraging that the Jewish community in Russia lives a rich and multifaceted life, pays constant attention to preserving traditional spiritual and moral, family values, raising the younger generation, and actively participates in charitable and humanitarian efforts; together with representatives of other religions, it carries out extensive and in-demand work aimed at implementing socially significant patriotic, educational, and outreach projects and initiatives. And of course, I note that Russian Jews, drawing on the richest historical and spiritual heritage of their ancestors, set a worthy example of productive interreligious and interethnic understanding and cooperation.
