Russian special unit commander killed in Kharkiv drone strike

A high-ranking member of the Akhmat unit — the deputy commander of the special forces formation known as the “Khokhol Battalion,” call sign Grom — was killed as a result of a Ukrainian drone strike in the Kharkiv region.

The details were published by RT in Russian on its Telegram channel.

The outlet reported that Grom will be buried in Tyumen. According to RT correspondent Vlad Andrisa, he had been involved in repelling attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to breach the Belgorod region.

Andrisa also stated that Grom was the first to raise the Russian flag in the settlement of Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in Russia’s Kursk region after it was liberated from Ukrainian forces.
