15 June 2026 17:36
On June 15, a Tu-22M3 supersonic bomber crashed in Russia’s Irkutsk region near the town of Svirsk.
According to preliminary information, cited by SHOT Telegram channel, the crew managed to eject from the aircraft, and eyewitnesses reported seeing pilots descending by parachute.
The aircraft was reportedly conducting a flight without any combat payload.
Preliminary assessments suggest that the crash may have been caused by an engine failure, resulting in a loss of control. The bomber subsequently crashed into a forested area near the bank of the Angara River.
