Russian tanks receive new anti-drone protection system
Russian forces have begun installing new drone-protection structures on their tanks.
The “West” group of forces has started equipping combat vehicles with a newly developed protective canopy known as “Yozh” (“Hedgehog”), Russian media reported, citing the country’s Ministry of Defence, Caliber.Az writes.
The work is being carried out by servicemen from the repair company of the 13th Tank Regiment, which is part of the 4th Guards Tank Division of the 1st Guards Tank Army.
According to the ministry, the “Yozh” canopy is designed to protect armoured vehicles from FPV drones as well as cumulative munitions. The structure consists of a metal frame fitted with approximately 1,300 “brooms” made from unravelled metal cables. When a drone strikes the structure, it becomes entangled in the cables, preventing it from reaching the vehicle itself.
