Russian vessel catches fire off Kamchatka coast, four missing, 25 rescued

Russia’s The Triumph vessel caught fire off the coast of Kamchatka, forcing its 29-member crew to abandon ship and take to life rafts, the Far Eastern Expeditionary Rescue Operations Dispatch Service has stated.

The agency said that the passing Perseus vessel rescued 25 crew members from the rafts and is heading to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, where the survivors are expected to be brought ashore in the morning, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

According to the report, the captain and three other sailors remain missing.

“A rescue vessel, the Suvorovets, is due to leave Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and head towards the burning Triumph. But it will not happen very soon, in about 10 hours,” the agency’s source detailed.
